Unfortunately, today's educational system from k-12 and all the way to the university level and postgraduate levels is marred by instructors, and teachers that vent their "diplomas" and their "certifications" while leaving the students to languish and to learn on their own. Many teachers have forgotten that we are dealing with the new norm, the 21st Century Digital Citizen, who is very knowledgeable, savvy, ahead of the times, and are capable of doing research that, in multiple instances, surpasses the past time research and education of their "educators" and instructors (Malloy et al., 2017).
The author of this essay has taught at various universities, where the norm on part of instructors was simply: "You do as I say, or I fail you"- even if the teacher did not know what he was teaching or was so poorly doing his or her job, that the only reason he or she remained in tenure, is by intimidation and fear.
Many teachers of today, including and perhaps, even specially, at the university and graduate level, are preposterous, proud the they obtained their "PhD" diploma and that they "paid their dues" and homage to a previously preponderant "educator" and the chain of failure in education continues ad infinitum.
